Abstract

Industry is the main engine of economic and industrial development through its performance and active role in the formation of the domestic product, and its importance lies in its influential role in protecting the national industry by increasing exports and decreasing imports, as well as in absorbing the huge numbers of labor and its ability to achieve technological progress. The industry in Iraq suffers from many problems and obstacles that have caused a severe decline in economic performance, most notably: the suspension of most production lines, the obsolescence of the technology used in them, the destruction of the infrastructure of this industry such as (electricity, water, means of transport and communications, .... and others), and the weakness of The local market, the deterioration of the living situation of consumers, the policy of commodity dumping, as well as the financing problems and low economic performance And the lack of a stable political environment, as well as problems related to laws and legislation, and the lack of a strategic vision for industrial development in line with the industrial reality in Iraq. Accordingly, this requires preparing the initial requirements to create a suitable environment for reforming the national industry, and identifying the most important strategies and core policies that must be Working on them as important priorities for the advancement of the industry, and enabling it to overcome its crisis and the challenges it faces. Hence, the state must have a future industrial vision aimed at building an advanced industrial sector, that defines the long-term directions of the Iraqi industry, which constitutes a general framework for the directions of industrial plans and a criterion for choosing its policy , to ensure their competition and complementarity.
