Factors for the endemicity of the sweets and pastries industry and its problems in the Holy Governorate of Karbala

Abstract

The industry of sweets and pastries is considered one of the industries that characterise Karbala City; this industry provides the city's economy with foreign currency. Besides that, it provides income for many of the city's people and improves their living standards, as well as attracting many workers. The problem of the study is summarised by whether the spatial components are affected by attracting this industry. The extent of the impact of these components on the geographical distribution of this industry in the city. Does Holy Karbala have reliable possibilities for the growth and development of that industry? Does the sweets and pastry industry suffer from problems that prevent its growth and development?
The study aims to identify the most significant factors in the settlement of the sweets and pastries industry in Karbala. In addition to the problems that this industry suffers from and that prevent its development, develop solutions that match the city's capabilities.
The study concluded that spatial factors influenced the localization of the sweets and pastries industry and its geographical distribution; furthermore, the industry in Karbala city had many problems with the production process and health standards.
