Abstract

The poetry of Iraqi expatriate women represents a starting point and a living model for the poetics of place, as their poetry contains vocabulary that has a spatial memory that blends with their subjective and psychological feelings and reflects the place of familiarity and youth. Our research is based on analyzing the memory of place in the poetry of Iraqi expatriate women poets, highlighting the most important connotations, meanings and purposes of memory, through separate poems by Iraqi expatriate women poets, using their poetry as a reflection of their personal and cultural identity, and the reasons for using the words of places, including the names of places, houses, halls and schools in their poetry, and what these places represent for the women poets.
