Abstract
Mosul is distinguished by many personalities some of whom had an impact on its intellectual and political history. Ibn Khamees was famous for his studies in Hadith, Islamic Fiqh and his abstemiousness (zuhd). He was among the elite who had being left scientific and an intellectual effect by holding the office of Judiciary and authoring many books which have not reached us except for the book (manaqib al- abrar wa mahasin al-akhyar) which is considered the best book to deal with news of Sufis and their says, especially, during the first three centuries of Hejra. Regarding the historical value of the book, it was and is the main resource for many books which were written later concerning news of scientists who were known for their abstemiousness and worship.
