Residential regions and local migration trends in the city of Shatrah
Abstract
The research aims to address the concept of internal urban migration (whether between residential neighborhoods or within the residential neighborhood itself), and its trends represented by (42) residential neighborhoods in the city of Shatrah, and the characteristics of the residential and urban environment), as well as its spatial biases; As it is one of the important and influential factors in encouraging the population to internal urban migration, the research was based on the field study and direct observation of the urban and environmental reality and personal interviews in the first launch of the research project. As (1601) questionnaire forms were distributed to a random sample of housing units at a rate of (5%) of the total number of (32016) housing units According to the approach adopted here, some statistical methods and methods were used, as the Social Sciences Package (SPSS) program was used to divide the city into residential regions by adopting the method of cluster analysis. The characteristics of the phenomenon under study were also analyzed on the basis of the spatial dimension according to the urban geography methodology, which is represented In the overlapping areas of the city represented by the (internal, external, and peripheral) areas, most of the migrations between the neighborhoods of the study area were within the distances between (2149-500 / meter) at a rate of (36.47%), followed by a percentage (30%) of the distance between (2150) -3799 meters Likewise, most immigrants from heads of families are males, as their percentage reached (83.9%) of the total immigrants in the city, while the proportion of immigrants from female heads of families reached (16.1%) of the total heads of immigrant families in the city of Shatra. The study revealed that the percentage of those who prefer urban migration in the future has reached (26%) people, as their number is (471) of the total families in the city of Shatrah, and most of these families want to migrate and live in better or more developed residential neighborhoods in terms of urbanization and services are available well.,
